Stirrups, also known as hoop reinforcement, closed ties, or closed hoops, are steel bars bent into square, rectangular, circular, or trapezoidal shapes and used to confine the longitudinal bars in concrete beams, columns, and shear walls. They play a key role in resisting shear forces, preventing buckling, and enhancing the ductility of structural members under load.
